Sunday was another beautiful day. February has been very spring like in this neck of the woods. I don’t mind at all. So on Sunday morning a few of us got together to do some search and rescue training with the dogs. There was just a slight breeze blowing which is unusual for the area that we were training at.
We were at a place called South Cove. It is a small protected cove just north of Pincher Creek. There is a great view of the Livingston Range here.
I have just started Davin working on finding human scented articles.
He did fairly good. I just need to make sure the articles are more rewarding to find then all the interesting animal smells. Easier said than done! Although wieners help out a lot.
After we worked on the articles we moved on to Davin’s favorite game. Find the human with the food!
Eureka! It’s hard to see here but Davin is standing on top of the food source/human. I’m not sure that is a good thing.
The reward for finding the human. Tug, tug, tug!
It was a great day to be outdoors training. I can’t wait until we start agility outdoors as well.
I played in a hockey tournament this past long weekend. I decided to take Davin on a road trip. I like going to Creston in the summer and the fall when the fruit and veggies are ready. Creston in the winter is not so fun. But the hockey was great and to top it off our team won the tournament. Davin is from Creston so I went with Davin’s dad’s owner, who also plays hockey, to drop in to see his birth owner as well as his mother. We ended up seeing one of his brothers as well.
Davin’s mom “Zip”
Davin’s brother “Tonka”. He is a handsome boy.
And he seems pretty happy-go-lucky.
Tonka and Davin “let’s play!”
Dad, mom and the brothers.
It was a great few days in Creston even with all the muck and rain.
It has been warm and sunny here all week but I just haven’t had time to enjoy it. I decided to take a break on Saturday to go hiking with the dogs and enjoy the sun and the plus 5 c temperatures that we’ve had.
The clouds were hanging low around the B.C. border. But there was barely a cloud in the sky here. It was so warm the snow was melting away. It’s amazing the weather we have had for February.
The dogs were enjoying the sun as well. One of the very few decent pictures I have been able to take of Ande on a bright winter day.
They were running more than usual.
I wonder if the rays made Davin a little more crazed. The pieces that make up his head all seem to be doing their own thing.
I ended up hiking for about four hours, longer than I intended but I enjoyed every minute of it.
This Sunday morning I went to Lethbridge for some search and rescue training and it was like entering a different world. Like the world was black and white. It was also very foggy and cold. There was hoar-frost on everything including me by the time I left.
It was nice to come home to the sun.
My sister has a small dog. I have two biggish ones. Sunday morning is usually the only morning of the week that I can relax before I start my day. However the dogs are not of the same mind. My sister’s dog “Timbit” is more like a tidbit.
He likes to play with Ande. She plays nice even though she is ten times bigger then him.
Davin on the other hand can be a bully. We have to make sure he doesn’t get too rough with Timbit.
It’s a good thing they are buddies.
But don’t you know…he’s a small dog, he can take them on.
It ends up Sunday mornings might not be so relaxing but they can be entertaining!
