On Guard

Today I was able to take a break between jobs and go for a hike which was awesome.  What was even more awesome a friend came hiking with me.

Davin and I were finally able to meet Crawford.  He is very cute.

I woke up to snow on the hills this morning and because of that I had to change where we were going to hike.  So plan B…the creepy forest.  This part of the forest has always creeped me out.  There seems to be no sound except for the occasional creaking of a tree.  I never hear birds here and there isn’t much greenery either.

But it wasn’t long before I realized that the dogs had our backs covered.

Massey always had her eye on us making sure nothing was sneaking up behind us.

Esmae was keeping her eyes peeled skyward.  You never know what could be lurking in the trees!

Sometimes a little extra height can give you an ‘I spy’ advantage.

When necessary our guardians coordinated their efforts.  Four eyes are better then two.

Even better yet, six eyes.

And so I was able to relax in the creepy forest and enjoy the hike knowing all angles were covered..

We have had such nice weather this week.  I haven’t been able to enjoy it much these days.  It seems that I have worked non stop this month.  Day and night.  I finally had a few hours of non work on Sunday and decided to enjoy the time I had.

Crowsnest Mountain in the evening sun.

The fall colors have been beautiful this year.

I had Davin with me and there was no sticks around to play fetch in the water with.  I threw some Wolf Willow berries into the water thinking he might want to fetch them. (I was trying to get him into the water) He just looked at me like ‘who are you kidding?’  What he did do was eat them off the bushes.  I was having a fit not knowing if they are poisonous or not.  I looked them up on the net and found out that they are really healthy for you.  Maybe I will have to start eating them myself!

I’m not sure what this is.  It is growing on the branches of an evergreen tree.  It looks like frost or icing on the branches to me.

Apparently the bulrushes have enjoyed the rainy summer.  They are abundant this year.

I took a quick trip into Waterton.  It was probably one of the nicest days I have experienced there.

I was glad that I took time to enjoy some of the finer details that nature has to offer.

Squirrel or Not

Wait…what was the sound….

Yipeeee a squirrel!

Davin get back here.  Squirrel, I don’t think so.  More likely a deer and hopefully not a bear!

And there better not be anything chasing you back.

Good boy!

Really, it was a squirrel.  Does this look like a face that would lie to you?
